]]><![CDATA[GALLERY WITH A CAUSE fund raiser]]>Mon, 23 Feb 2026 21:05:11 GMThttps://www.nolanwinkler.com/blog/gallery-with-a-cause-fund-raiserI just hung 17 pieces at the New Mexico Cancer Center. Fundraiser for a wonderful organization in Albuquerque, NM. I'm putting the pieces below for you to enjoy. All of the 12x12" pieces are framed to 14x14" and sell for $500. I have one larger piece and one smaller piece. If interested in either, please email Regina Held at: regina@artfullifestyle.com. And if interested in a tour (9 artists' works): Gallery tours are best scheduled for late afternoons during the week, and Saturdays when we are less busy with patients. The NMCC is closed on Sundays, but I occasionally give tours on Sundays as well. Remember Regina Held does not have an office at the NMCC and will make a special trip to give a tour, so they need to be scheduled a few days in advance. The exhibit is up for nearly 3 months. On October 10th there will be an opening reception for me/my work at the Bear Mountain Lodge in Silver City, New Mexico. It is an exciting exhibit for me because it will have old and new works. I just received my copy of the 2025 SANTA FE LITERARY REVIEW, Volume 20 in which I am fortunate to have two paintings featured. One with a brief statement by me and the other to go with a short story.

That text reads: "A bird does not singbecause it has something to say. It sings because it has a song." Chinese Proverb.
I paint with emothions moving the brush and my favored music playing loudly in my studio. I paint not to give advice, but to garner questions while giving no answers. It is for you, the viewer, to react in a manner that suits your senses.
I paint because it is what I do. I paint because I love the act of not knowing what I am going to paint but letting the paint and the music move me. An accident will happen sooner or later, and since I have been painting for so long, I recognize that and go with whatever that accident has to offer. My ork is inspired by the paine, the music and often by poetry and lyrics.

]]><![CDATA[An ad and an upcoming exhibit...]]>Thu, 17 Jul 2025 18:48:14 GMThttps://www.nolanwinkler.com/blog/an-ad-and-an-upcoming-exhibitI was thrilled to see an ad for my main gallery (RioBravoFineArt in Truth or Consequences, NM) in the summer edition of TABLE, a relatively new 'swell' magazine for Santa Fe lovers. Their ad featured an older work of mine: READY. SET. GO., 40x40" on canvas that I painted after NM's Black Fire in the Gila Wilderness about 6 years ago. Please note the charred cottonwood leaves that fell onto my property miles away in Hillsboro. I am still happy with this painting and here it is in it's half page ad in the magazine. Please contact the gallery if you think you need it.

And on another art front, I am a member of the Border Artists, located in Las Cruces, NM and we are having an exhibition at RioBravoFineArt in September and these are the paintings I will be showing. Again, a presale always makes me happy.

I have started a small, 6 piece Haiku series of paintings. All 12x12" then framed. Just wanted you to know I haven't melted in the heat, rain is due soon and the bunnies and deer are eating most everything I plant.

First: Pink, red and salmon
You there, on my windowsill
Oh! Geraniums.

2nd: Basil, so fragrant
Growing in pots. When flowering
Time is up.PESTO!

3: ENERGIES EXCHANGED
Arms wrapping a tree
at one with the energies
gratefully taken.

4: Coffee is my drink
E. Grey & hibiscus teas
come into play, too.

5: Tides go left and right
Maybe it is East and West.
Do not follow them.

That's it so far. Hope you enjoyed them. One to go. The haiku is written, now the painting.
