Show at Unsettled Gallery in Las Cruces coming up SOON

This should be a colorful and exciting show. I show my work in one room of the gallery and Jean Reece Wilkey shows her beautiful paintings in the other. Jean's work is colorful and realistic...what I've seen so far are florals and I'm going to share the Lily one she just posted on her newsletter. Beautiful. A pleasure to share the space with her.

In my room will be some somewhat representational pieces and some abstract ones. The metallic one I showed on my earlier post will be in it. I'll pull a somewhat abstract to show here, just to contrast with Jean's work. I think our contrasts are a plus.

The gallery will have our opening on Saturday morning, August 9th at 8am. You read that right....8 in the morn. This is to beat the heat. 8-11. Stop by for coffee, hot or cold and some tidbits to eat and enjoy our work. We've all worked hard to put this together, so show up!   Gallery hours are Wed.-Fri., 10am-5pm and Sat., 10-5. I do believe that at 9:30 Jean and I will begin brief talks about our work.

BEYOND HER REACH (she was always wanting the perfection far beyond her reach)

18"x 18" acrylics and crayon on panel.... Painted with a friend in mind, but when it was finished and I reread my title, could be me. Could probably be you. Smiles. And the second picture shows how it looks when a definite light hits those metallic paints. Wow.

Very thrilled with the way the owners of this painting on paper of mine framed the piece. Like it so much I suggested to them I wanted it back! Just kidding, of course, but I am just so happy with their framing choices. Thanks, new owners!

MARILYN going to Santa Fe's Wheelhouse Art Gallery

This painting, acrylic and water based wax crayon on canvas is 40"x 40"...I first painted it about 4 years ago but just came back to it last week. Have always loved it but thought I could 'bump' it up a bit by adding a redder red and more of it and blacker black in areas. Happy. Clues as it why it is called MARILYN: roses DiMaggio put on her crypt annually after her death....dots...remember the black and white dress from THE MISFITS? I do. So, taking it to Santa Fe this weekend along with a few other pieces to recharge my work at the Wheelhouse Art Gallery at the railyard, behind Jean Cocteau.
