Giving thanks!

It is the time of year when we need to realize how good our lives are.

At this time I am readying work for my 2025 exhibition in April through March and am thankful to still be painting. I am 'mature' officially now (80 years) and also mature in my work. GRATEFUL!

In readying the work, I am also setting up a small, softbound booklet of ten or so images from the upcoming exhibit. Below is my proposed cover: GREY GARDEN. Acrylic and charcoal on canvas, 48x48". This is my latest painting and the last usually being my favorite. I am calling my exhibit MEDLEY because I have no common theme in all the work, just the common thread of the energy in my brush with the paint and drawing with charcoal in the works.

You'll be hearing from me again as the exhibit nears. Thanks so much for your interest in my work! You make me smile.

Whoa, my new exhibit at RioBravoFineArt Gallery in Truth or Consequences opens Saturday, Feb 10th from 6-9pm. I even have an old pal from soCA coming to visit for it. Some of you will remember Randal Wong. We had good times back in the day.

I have about 24 paintings and some small sketches in the show and a 20 page booklet of photos of the pieces that can be purchased for $25. from the gallery.

This is the statement I wrote for the front page: This exhibit, entitled THE DANCE BEGINS is just that. I have spent the last year and a half working/dancing between abstract and abstracted representation. I am inspired by the music I listen to, the poetry I read and life's wonders. It is in my nature to go back and forth, then leap ahead.... The studio provides me a place of challenges and rock and roll. In that space, I am content.

I am exhibiting some of the collection my late husband, Winkler and I collected over 30 years. The exhibit is in Truth or Consequences, NM at Lunáticus Gallerie on Broadway in the heart of town. It opens on Sept. 9th at 5 pm and I will give a walk/talk through, informing what we knew about each artist. In the above picture, you'll notice larger than usual tags...info about the artists....

It may be tacky to say it but most of these pieces have been in storage in my garage for the 3 years since we downsized to a smaller living space. I dislike not having them out in the world and enjoyed by some, so am selling them at very low prices (sorry, living artists) because I don't want to continue hiding them. 90+% of the prices are much lower than what we paid for them but I figure we enjoyed them so much for so many years, I won't be losing anything in the big scheme of things.

I wish I could share all the pieces with you but you can get the gist of the eclectic mix of works we loved for 30 years! Note: Colette Hosmer's SLICK weighs a ton so would be quite pricy to ship.... include Hilderman's ELEANOR in that, too.

Still hot in Hillsboro, New Mexico, so I now paint early morning or late evening. Works just fine.

Still working toward a few exhibitions for early 2024. One is a group show at the Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces where I will be exhibiting with The Border Artists. A themed show: PLACE. Here is one of the pieces I will have in that exhibit: WHEN THE DESERT CRIES. 30x30" on canvas.

Next is a February through March exhibit at RioBravoFineArt Gallery in Truth or Consequences, NM. There, I have asked a Las Cruces artist to join me in sharing the space. Raul Dorn is a painter and musician with Sister Black Lagoon. No theme in this show for me so I have gone a bit wild in painting anything and everything: abstracts and abstracted representation. I is a delight for me. Her are a few examples of work that will be shown then.

It's HOT & I'm painting!

Yes, it is mighty hot and still dry in Hillsboro, New Mexico. And yes, my studio bakes daily. Just bought a little swamp cooler to make it easier for me, but to be honest, I have worked in it for 30 years now and the heat...?...once I start painting I just don't notice it much. I'm also working more with the lights on in the eve/night. Cool.

I have been painting larger pieces (it's relative, you know, think 40x40") on canvas of late and now I have started on a few 14x28" diptych pieces on cradled wood panels which don't need to be framed for that very contemporary look. Diptychs have mostly eluded my reasoning, so it's time to give them another try. Loving the challenge.

I am working toward a February exhibit at RioBravoFineArt Gallery in Truth or Consequences, NM, in their BIG room. Always love to see all my work hanging together. I am usually amazed not only at my output but at the variety in which I use my brush, the palette (titanium white is a current favorite, then back to COLOR), the charcoal, the crayons d'ache and my fingers. Just a short share...now enjoy your summer.

Just a quick note to let you know I've added work to some of the pages on my website and that I am continuing to paint, paint and paint some more. Several exhibits, large and small in the offing. Please check out the new work in NEWER WORKS and in BLOOMS.
