A sincere thank you for your time and consideration.
I am exhibiting some of the collection my late husband, Winkler and I collected over 30 years. The exhibit is in Truth or Consequences, NM at Lunáticus Gallerie on Broadway in the heart of town. It opens on Sept. 9th at 5 pm and I will give a walk/talk through, informing what we knew about each artist. In the above picture, you'll notice larger than usual tags...info about the artists....
It may be tacky to say it but most of these pieces have been in storage in my garage for the 3 years since we downsized to a smaller living space. I dislike not having them out in the world and enjoyed by some, so am selling them at very low prices (sorry, living artists) because I don't want to continue hiding them. 90+% of the prices are much lower than what we paid for them but I figure we enjoyed them so much for so many years, I won't be losing anything in the big scheme of things.
DALLAS DeGROOT's two amazing wall ceramic pieces.
Sandra Hillderman: ELEANOR and a 'head'
Colette's SLICK with dried minnows for 'hair.'
David Farrell' boat painting and pears painted by his student, Daniel Macaroni
I wish I could share all the pieces with you but you can get the gist of the eclectic mix of works we loved for 30 years! If you see anything here you think you cannot live without, please message me/reply to this blog for size, pricing... and we'll see if we can work it out. Note: Colette Hosmer's SLICK weighs a ton so would be quite pricy to ship.... include Hilderman's ELEANOR in that, too.
A sincere thank you for your time and consideration.
Still hot in Hillsboro, New Mexico, so I now paint early morning or late evening. Works just fine.
Still working toward a few exhibitions for early 2024. One is a group show at the Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces where I will be exhibiting with The Border Artists. A themed show: PLACE. Here is one of the pieces I will have in that exhibit: WHEN THE DESERT CRIES. 30x30" on canvas.
Next is a February through March exhibit at RioBravoFineArt Gallery in Truth or Consequences, NM. There, I have asked a Las Cruces artist to join me in sharing the space. Raul Dorn is a painter and musician with Sister Black Lagoon. No theme in this show for me so I have gone a bit wild in painting anything and everything: abstracts and abstracted representation. I is a delight for me. Her are a few examples of work that will be shown then.
I ONCE LIVED IN A VERY PINK HOUSE IN CALIFORNIA. 14x14" acrylic, crayon & charcoal on wood panel
DESERT DELICACY 24x24" acrylic & charcoal on wood, framed.
THE DANCE BEGINS 40x40" acrylic & charcoal on canvas
Yes, I even have a few mostly black and whites in the coming exhibit, too. Nolan gone wild.
DISCLOSURE 29.5x40" acrylic and crayon & charcoal on wood panel.
These are just samples of the many pieces I will be exhibiting. I am always happy to presell work so if you have an interest in knowing prices for a purchase or lay away purchase (all through the gallery), just reply with questions. And remember, the pieces remain in NM until the show ends in late March. THANKS.
Still months to go but I am already excited to show the work!
Yes, it is mighty hot and still dry in Hillsboro, New Mexico. And yes, my studio bakes daily. Just bought a little swamp cooler to make it easier for me, but to be honest, I have worked in it for 30 years now and the heat...?...once I start painting I just don't notice it much. I'm also working more with the lights on in the eve/night. Cool.
I have been painting larger pieces (it's relative, you know, think 40x40") on canvas of late and now I have started on a few 14x28" diptych pieces on cradled wood panels which don't need to be framed for that very contemporary look. Diptychs have mostly eluded my reasoning, so it's time to give them another try. Loving the challenge.
I am working toward a February exhibit at RioBravoFineArt Gallery in Truth or Consequences, NM, in their BIG room. Always love to see all my work hanging together. I am usually amazed not only at my output but at the variety in which I use my brush, the palette (titanium white is a current favorite, then back to COLOR), the charcoal, the crayons d'ache and my fingers. Just a short share...now enjoy your summer.
The top image: HERE AND THERE. 14x28" acrylic and charcoal on cradled wooden panels.
Bottom image: SEEING FIT TO LEAVE. 14x28" acrylic and charcoal on cradled wooden panels.
Just a quick note to let you know I've added work to some of the pages on my website and that I am continuing to paint, paint and paint some more. Several exhibits, large and small in the offing. Please check out the new work in NEWER WORKS and in BLOOMS.
Happy Summertime! Be safe out there!
SUMMER IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE is one of more than 20 paintings I now have on exhibit at RioBravoFineArt Gallery in Truth or Consequences, NM. The show is up for 3 months. You can view the work I have there at
I promise you'll enjoy checking out my work, along with the paintings of Jeanne Rundell of Messilla, NM. Our work is very different but somehow they work well together.
It is August 10, 2022 and I just finished this small LANDSCAPE on paper this morning. I am pretty excited about it so decided to share it with you. It measures a mere 12x12" and is acrylic, charcoal, crayon d'ache and graphite on archival watercolor paper. Unframed. I seldom do somewhat representational/abstract landscapes so am hoping one of you who view this will need to have it in your collection. I am offering it at $300. + $10. shipping, insurance included. If it doesn't sell to the few of you I am sharing it with in a month or so, I will frame it and show it in my exhibition in Truth or Consequences, NM, in October. At that time, the price more than doubles so take advantage of this offer if interested. Fun for me to offer it. Thanks for looking. Enjoy it.
I'm excited to see all of these paintings up at one time...a treat for any artist. You can see them all even if you cannot come to the gallery in TorC, NM to see them. Via the gallery's site with images and prices...:
I am also selling an 11x8.5" booklet (zine) of all the pieces if you are interested. If so, just drop me a check or cash ($23.00) at P.O.Box 221, Hillsboro, NM 88042. I put this zine together to document the largest series of work I have ever done. And it was done while my husband was still living, so it is special to me. As a matter of fact, I will add my Artist's Statement here so you can understand its significance to me.
So, there you have it. I confess that this series surprised and delighted me even through all the horrors of the time. Hope you will take the time to view the show and comment/contact me. Thanks.
This blog is to let you know of my upcoming solo exhibition at RioBravoFineArt Gallery in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The theme of this series is BLOOMS IN THE TIME OF CORONA and it will have about 65 paintings, mostly small, that I completed during the last year and a half. Here is a short video that was done on me and some of that series for our local Sierra County Arts Council. Please watch and enjoy and leave comments if you wish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDkp6dZlC1Q
I am having a 20 page catalogue/softbound of this series printed and am taking reservations for them now.
It is 11"x 8.5" and can be mailed to you for $25.00 if you choose to purchase one. Here are a few sample pages:
And the obligatory artist's statement about this series.
So, there you have it. The exhibition opens Saturday, December 11th, 2021 from 6-9pm with the artist at the gallery. Would love to see any of you there. Please email or respond to this blog if you care to reserve one of the catalogues (if you haven't already done so on FaceBook). A sincere thank you for your time and consideration.
I have been painting my heart out during our pandemic stay at home time. Works for me! Just had an exhibition of 25 of them in Las Cruces with the work coming down tomorrow. I am now readying a slide show to present to the Las Cruces Border Artists about my putting text in many of my old and newer pieces. Whether it is simply the title of the work or a short blurb or haiku I've written. Even a short lyric someone else wrote. Wanting to share a few of those with you. Please hit my site and check out the 72 (so far) in this BLOOM series while you're here at my website. It has been fabulous in keeping my mind off the pandemic we all face. Comments are appreciated.
A TIME FOR... 12x12"
NOT FOR ME 12x12"
SOMETIMES THE MUSIC IS BLUE 24x24"
WHEN YOUR HEART IS STRONG 1818"

I have a small exhibit up at the Doña Ana Arts Council in Las Cruces, NM at 250 W. Amador Ave. It is in their library alcove and has approx. 24 pieces. All are of my BLOOM series and all but two are 12x12" on wood panels or canvas. They will be shown till the end of the year so plenty of time to check them out here, on my webpage (BLOOMS) or in person at the gallery.
The 12x12" BLOOM paintings retail at $400. each. The two 8x8" paintings are $250.
In conjunction with this exhibit is Las Cruces' annual Renaissance Faire which is virtual this year. The Doña Ana Arts Council is holding an online auction for it and each artful item begins at a mere 99 cents so there may be bargains to win!
I have donated one of my BLOOM pieces, another 12x12" painting on wood panel for the arts council because they are such an important element in counties across our nation.
To preview my piece on the auction website: https://www.nmestateauctions.com/Event/LotDetails/2796193/Nolan-Winkler-Original-Painting
If you are an out of state winner, you pay shipping, too.
Enjoy art and artists!
It's me, Nolan Winkler. Here to keep you up to date.
