I'm excited to see all of these paintings up at one time...a treat for any artist. You can see them all even if you cannot come to the gallery in TorC, NM to see them. Via the gallery's site with images and prices...:
http://www.riobravofineartgallery.com/nolan-winkler-blooms-exhibition.html

I am also selling an 11x8.5" booklet (zine) of all the pieces if you are interested. If so, just drop me a check or cash ($23.00) at P.O.Box 221, Hillsboro, NM 88042. I put this zine together to document the largest series of work I have ever done. And it was done while my husband was still living, so it is special to me. As a matter of fact, I will add my Artist's Statement here so you can understand its significance to me.

So, there you have it. I confess that this series surprised and delighted me even through all the horrors of the time. Hope you will take the time to view the show and comment/contact me. Thanks.

This blog is to let you know of my upcoming solo exhibition at RioBravoFineArt Gallery in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The theme of this series is BLOOMS IN THE TIME OF CORONA and it will have about 65 paintings, mostly small, that I completed during the last year and a half. Here is a short video that was done on me and some of that series for our local Sierra County Arts Council. Please watch and enjoy and leave comments if you wish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDkp6dZlC1Q

I am having a 20 page catalogue/softbound of this series printed and am taking reservations for them now.
It is 11"x 8.5" and can be mailed to you for $25.00 if you choose to purchase one. Here are a few sample pages:

Many more BLOOMS

I have been painting my heart out during our pandemic stay at home time. Works for me! Just had an exhibition of 25 of them in Las Cruces with the work coming down tomorrow. I am now readying a slide show to present to the Las Cruces Border Artists about my putting text in many of my old and newer pieces. Whether it is simply the title of the work or a short blurb or haiku I've written. Even a short lyric someone else wrote. Wanting to share a few of those with you. Please hit my site and check out the 72 (so far) in this BLOOM series while you're here at my website. It has been fabulous in keeping my mind off the pandemic we all face. Comments are appreciated.

MORNING SONG acrylic, charcoal and wax crayon on wood panel. 12x12x1"
I have a small exhibit up at the Doña Ana Arts Council in Las Cruces, NM at 250 W. Amador Ave. It is in their library alcove and has approx. 24 pieces. All are of my BLOOM series and all but two are 12x12" on wood panels or canvas. They will be shown till the end of the year so plenty of time to check them out here, on my webpage (BLOOMS) or in person at the gallery.

The 12x12" BLOOM paintings retail at $400. each. The two 8x8" paintings are $250.
In conjunction with this exhibit is Las Cruces' annual Renaissance Faire which is virtual this year. The Doña Ana Arts Council is holding an online auction for it and each artful item begins at a mere 99 cents so there may be bargains to win!
I have donated one of my BLOOM pieces, another 12x12" painting on wood panel for the arts council because they are such an important element in counties across our nation.
To preview my piece on the auction website: https://www.nmestateauctions.com/Event/LotDetails/2796193/Nolan-Winkler-Original-Painting
If you are an out of state winner, you pay shipping, too.
Enjoy art and artists!

Sequestered Times with Art

NeWe all know about sequestering by now. For artists it isn't too much of a change of lifestyle. The change has been the HEAT in the desert southwest which makes my studio a bit hot in the afternoons for this old gal. But, I have been working and gardening and.... Here are some of the latest works during our time of the pandemic. STAY SAFE, friends. I'd enjoy it if you left comments...positive or otherwise. Always fun to hear back from you.

First is directly related to our sequestering: THE ROAD WAS LONG AND SLOW. 24x24" acrylic, charcoal on cradled wood panel.

Next is one I had made into a Forever stamp to help the postal service in their dire time: HOLLYHOCKS ARE NOT RETICENT BLOOMS 40x40, acrylic on canvas
Picture
Then, we have  GARDEN, 40x40" acrylic on canvas
Picture
SUMMERTIME AT THE BAT TOWER 30x24" acrylic on canvas. Yes, we have bat houses & 186 bats!
Picture
ACROSS THE WORLD WE MADE OUR PLANS 24x24" acrylic and graphite on cradled wood panel
Picture
And finished just today: SUMMER IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE REVISITED 24x30" acrylic on canvas
Picture
And two, 20" round canvas painting done for an exhibition that never happened due to gallery closure during the pandemic. COME TO THE LIGHT and WORLD WITHOUT END, AMEN.

William Brown, a photographer friend in Truth or Consequences, NM, took the time and effort to photograph the pieces we have there in our WINKLER COLLECTION exhibition. We have downsized our lives and what doesn't sell goes into storage, so prices are right! If you have interest in any of the pieces, please contact me or Eduardo Alicia at the gallery. Check out this fabulous slide show: http://www.riobravofineartgallery.com/fineart.html

This Family Winkler exhibition has been up for one month already. Forgive my tardiness in blogging. Also, in RIOBRAVOFINEART gallery is a Border Artist exhibit, of which I am also a member. Both shows look wonderful. I'm sending this out to say they will both be up and running till Sept. 29th so there's still time to go to the gallery or at least check out a lot of the works on the gallery's website: www.riobravofineartgallery.com

Below are a few pictures from the exhibits. And I'm pleased to say my BEHOLD THE BLUE sold the 2nd day it was up. Thanks to an Alamogordo, NM couple I've not met. Hope they will come back when I give my walk through and talk next Sunday.

A BRAND NEW YEAR.,,

Time is flying for me. So far, this year is good to go! I was invited to join the BORDER ARTISTS, a 501C3 arts organization formed in Las Cruces I believe 20 years ago. They keep their membership down to 20 artists so I am even more honored to have been selected to join. A few members are already friends and now I look forward to getting to know all the artists and their work better. They do GOOD works for the community. Fundraisers for PBS, scholarships.... Looking forward to our exhibitions and helping out. Please go to their website to check out the artists (including me, of course) and some of their works.

Finished this commission for the new Santa Fe Presbyterian Hospital about one month ago and just got a quick installation shot from the consultant on the job. Fun to do and so grateful to have had my submission selected over 200 submissions. WOW. Below is a picture of the installed work...chairs and plants yet to be added. Then individual pictures of each piece. Each piece measured 40x60".

Next? Awaiting a downpayment check for another commission. Wheee.

NEW MEXICO CAPITOL ART COLLECTION...My work is IN!

7/22/2018

I am thrilled to have two of my paintings selected to become part of the Capitol Art Collection in Santa Fe's Round House/State Capitol building. Thanks to the Capitol Art Foundation members for inviting me to submit work. The two pieces will soon be boxed in plexiglass and hung in their wonderful collection. The fun part is that I know so many of the artists already in the collection. If you haven't been to the Round House to see the collection, I hope you will make the effort and take the time to view floors of wonderful art from NM artists. The two pieces below are soon to be hung and I can't wait to see them included.
